Default Broadband Thresholds

I'm planning on making the jump to the world of broadband from dial-up, LOL I know. I'm curious about the broadband thresholds that if you pass them, your provider will limit your usage speeds. Does anyone have an idea of about how much Download/Upload usage GW uses? I'm curious on what plan to get the lowest has a threshold of 7,500download and 2,300 upload, and the highest option has 17,000 download and 5,000 upload. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

I'm on Virgin broadband in the uk which is unlimited downloading except under the following condition.

according to the information they gave out if you are in the top 10% of downloaders during peak time, they may see fit to cap your speed to half normal for a period of one week.

This only occurs during peak time which they say is 4pm to midnight.

I have never had a game cause this to happen you have to really get serious downloading movies and music for any capping to come into effect on my isp.

Most Broadband Thresholds are just in accumulated bandwidth over a month or billing cycle. Pretty much choose a provider that meets your price/performance ratio. You can read some reviews of ISP's here or browse their forums.

This is a sattelite isp, I live in the country, and its either dial-up or satellite. Most satellite isps have Fair Access Policies that restrict people who over use the provider so everyone can get equal speeds. I'm just wondering how much GW would use.

1. GW is never even going to get close to your download limit during normal play. You don't have to worry about it. Big updates may be another story.

2. Satellite is bad, bad, bad for online games. You get plenty of down, but your upload speed is horrific. Search around a bit and you'll find some post by people whose lag got worse by switching from dialup to satellite. You should definitely do your homework here before considering a switch.

When you think about it GW must use very little otherwise it couldn't possibly work on dial up.

Also large amounts of data being moved to and from your computer and thousands of others would cause unbelievable lag.
